Becoming pregnant and then giving birth changes your life. As wonderful as it can be to finally be a mommy, it also changes your body. No matter how much you exercise and how clean you eat, your body is going to be different than it was before. Many new moms complain about their saggy breasts and doughy stomach.

Because of this, many moms decide to get a mommy makeover. The recovery can be hard and here are some tips to help you get through the healing process.

Don’t be alarmed if the first few days are a blur. After your surgery, you will feel sleepy for quite a while. The pain medications may also make you extra sleepy. During the first few days, you are going to mostly want to rest and you need to do so. Your body will need rest in order to heal.

You also shouldn’t be worried if your emotions are all over the place. Surgery, even elective ones, can be really emotional, especially when you add in some heavy medications. If you seem to cry easily, it is to be expected. This will pass and you will feel better in a few days.

Don’t try to be brave. Too many moms don’t want to take their pain medication. They try to be brave and just deal with the pain. However, you really should take your pain medication as described so that you can stay ahead of the pain. Your body needs to rest and if you are in pain, you won’t be able to recover as fast.

Don’t overdo it. Most moms are used to doing most of the chores around the house. However, you just can’t do it all while you are healing. Get help at home (and lots of it) so you can rest when your body needs to. If you overdo it, it will take even longer to heal.

Make sure that you are taking proper care of your drains. You will need to clean them regularly and make sure that you know how much fluid you are draining also.

Follow your doctor’s orders when it comes to what you can and can’t do. They should give you strict rules about what you can and can’t do (and when). While you may feel under the weather for a week or so, you shouldn’t do any heavy lifting for several weeks.

Contact your doctor if you have any problems. Your doctor is there to help you through this difficult time, especially if you are worried about side effects. If you are worried about anything that you are feeling, don’t hesitate to give them a call.

The biggest sign of infection is a fever so if you have one, make sure that you call your doctor right away!

Healing after surgery can take a lot out of you. It requires rest and pain medication. You will probably also have a lot of restrictions to make sure that you give your body the rest that it needs.

After the first few days, you might feel ready to do more than you should. However, that will be a mistake. Make sure that you have the help that you need for your children and your household. Don’t overdo it or you may need extra time to recover!

You also shouldn’t be brave when it comes to your medication. You need to take it as prescribed so that you can stay on top of the pain so your body can heal properly.

Make sure that you contact your doctor anytime that you worry that something is wrong. A fever can be a sign of an infection so it is important to take your temperature on a regular basis.
